ACMPR stands for Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations and it’s the name given by Health Canada to the current federal medical marijuana program, which took effect in August of 2016 (Prior to this – since 2013 – it was known as the MMPR).

Under the ACMPR, patients with the correct documentation from their physician can purchase medical marijuana from special Health Canada-licensed producers. Currently, the ACMPR works through mailorder only, which means that a patient has to place an order online or over the phone with a licensed producer, and then the licensed producer will ship the order directly to the patient through a courier service.
